Christian
Light Foundation - Los Guido, Costa Rica
In January of 2004, Pastor Walter (Chino) and a team from Iglesia Cristiana
Misionera El Lugar agreed to start a new church in a very poor area of Costa
Rica where there are youth discipleship groups but nowhere to take the youth
for church services. Now, nearly two years later, there are more than 200
coming to weekly services in Los Guido. In order to support the women and
children of Los Guido, we offer handmade cards from the flowers, leaves, and
other elements of the rich biodiversity found in this beautiful country. In
many cases the making/selling of these cards are the sole support of women
in Los Guido providing income and support for their families. |

The Improved Arts Metal Sculpture Project was started in 1986 by five
brothers. Having discovered their artistic talents, they founded the group
to depict African natural history through metalwork and to make a better
living. Old tin cans and other scraps of metal from businesses in the
industrial area of Harare are turned into these delightful sculptures by
these artists using snips, pliers, and hammers. They depict animals familiar
in Zimbabwe, such as the nyati (buffalo), nzou (elephant), and shumba
(lion). |
